What lives on your Columbus?! [Or Bolero; SD card; Phone]

I was driving along, today, looking through the list of artists stored on my Columbus HD and I thought to myself - I wonder what other artists have graced the drives of these units.

And, so, here is the question... What lives on your [choice of music storage device]?!

    On mine, there is...
    Pendulum
    The Prodigy
    Nickelback
Stringybark (Aussie Folk... Waltzing Matilda, and all that kinda stuff)
    Creed

And some other stuff, most of which I can't remember.
    How about you?

On my iPhone (via MDI), I've got

    - a bit of funk and soul: Breakestra, The Bamboos, Stevie Wonder

    - a bit of hip hop, mainly local stuff atm: LHA, Nix, P.R, Chux, Truth Be Heard

    - a bit of electronica / other offshoot 'beats' genres: The Glitch Mob, Flying Lotus, Nosaj Thing, Rustie, Hudson Mohawke, Onra, Dam-Funk, B.Bravo

    - Samurai Champloo (anime) soundtracks, and more Japanese hip hop from Nujabes

    - and of course a bit of stuff for the kids: some Sesame Street tunes and Yo Gabba Gabba

I thought the HDD capacity on the Columbus was supposed to be 30 Gb? I currently have nothing stored on my HDD and yet when I check the capacity, it says some rather odd 18.62 Gb capacity? This appears odd to me? Agree?

I can't remember if its 30GB or 40GB, but its partitioned - some for system, some for maps and some for USER (music)

Else we'd be using a maps DVD... Urgh.

    Factory firmware on a 30gb has a 10/20 partition for maps/music.
    I had this too.

    I thought i had a 30gb until I used one of kamold's firmware (412x). turns out I actually have a 40gb hdd! Must've been increased from the MY11 models.

I now have 33gb for music. I'm guessing the remaining 8gb is for the maps.

So can the partitioning be changed by the user at all?

not by the "user" as such.
but via a custom firmware, created by user who knows how to do it.
u then download & burn the firmware onto a dvd/cd, and insert it into the unit and simply follow the instructions.

have a look in the vw audio section of this forum. there are links to updated firmware, including maps.
just beware when updating the firmware, depending on ur current version, u may lose all music & maps during the repartition process.
so u'll have to reload them back on.

    You have a 40GB HDD.
It is partitioned 50/25/25 with 50% for music, 25% for maps and 25% for personal POI data.
So you are likely running 3970 firmware.
As mentioned, you can upgrade to the custom 4120 firmware from here which will maximise space for your music. Our map data is much smaller than Europe so we need far less space on the HDD. And 10GB for a POI database that will likely be about 15MB is just a complete waste.
